The other option you need to take into account other than using SQL is if the data is even in the database for that long. For SAM, the data isn't usually kept as long. I would first go into the Data and Database settings located at //yourserver//Orion/APM/Admin/Settings.aspx and check to see how long you are keeping the application specific information. By default, I believe the data is held for up to 90 days then cleared from the database. If this is the case, then you won't be able to meet that criteria in your report from the data being collected and stored.
If you are holding the data for a year, then you can do most of this with SQL, just not the summarization with just a simple SQL query. You'd have to either use SQL Reports Services to create a table matrix that would hold the query and allow for the totals OR you'd have to export the values into Excel and use Excel to gather the totals you are looking for.
