When a Volume is created on a NetApp, there is a max number of inodes available based initially on the size of the Volume. In the case of NAS, when you start pouring hundreds of thousands or millions of files in the Volume you could run out. The value can be increased by either growing the Volume or just increasing the value, but its not something you want to proactively over provision up front. Monitoring the number of inodes on certain Volumes is important for these reasons.
